Surgery is expensive, invasive and painful. Acupuncture, as practiced by a qualified holistic practitioner has none of the side effects or safety risks associated with surgery.
Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture is a relatively new innovation in the UK - but the Chinese have been using it for thousands of years (at least as early as the Song Dynasty 960AD-1270AD)! Acupuncture revitalisation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emperor's concubines. The Chinese discovered and utilised ways to change the energy flow within the body to initiate the healing process for revitalisation helping the body to look and feel better.
Facial revitalisation acupuncture, the "natural facelift", is a natural and safe way to improve appearance and take 5-15 years off you. Treatment specifically affects the face while simultaneously treating underlying physical and psycho-spiritual factors that contribute to the aging process. Common sense tells us that treating the root causes of aging and imbalance is preferable to masking the symptoms, and much more long lasting!
I recently saw a 'rave review' for botox: "I may feel just as stressed but I don't look it!" - I personally would prefer to feel and look less stressed!! Wouldn't you?
Different methods are employed and specific points stimulated according to how an individual is aging. A person with excess puffiness, for example, would require a different treatment than someone with dry skin or acne. The whole person is treated and evaluated on the body-mind continuum--the foundation of Holistic Medicine.
Inserting hair thin needles into particular areas of the head, neck and face increases blood and lymph flow to the face, stimulates collagen production and relaxes the muscles.

TREATMENT
A typical course of treatments would be 12 treatments over 6-12 weeks, and you should start to see an effect after 4-6 treatments. Each treatment lasts about an hour and a half and is very relaxing. Very occasionally, slight bruising may occur, but this fades quickly.
Details of what happens in a treatment:
Facial revitalisation treatments are £85 and are 1.5 hours.
Concessions are not available as this is a luxury treatment.
There are contraindications for facial acupuncture and is not suitable for pregnant women, pituitary disorders, epilepsy, people with high blood pressure (even if it is controlled with medication), diabetics, people with an active cold, flu or herpes outbreak (though they can have a normal acupuncture treatment to help their general wellness), or people that have had another type of facial procedure (e.g. botox, restylane, surgical facelifts etc) within the past 12 months.
Does it really make a difference?
A 1996 report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with Facial Acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. The effects included: the skin becoming more radiant with improved elasticity of facial muscles, leveling of wrinkles, and an overall feeling of revitalisation.
Facial Revitalisation Massage is also available- this has similar benefits to the facial acupuncture but perhaps less dramatic and lasting. However the treatment is very refreshing and revitalising, and especially great for lymph drainage, congestion, puffiness and sinus issues.
Testimonials
"OMG Lil!!! Magician!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" LW, Make up artist, Crystal Palace
"I thought it was great and a couple of friends thought some of the lines had plumped out! It is definitely something I would consider a course of treatments...!" SH, Kingston
"Many thanks for my Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture treatment. It was great and I felt great afterwards - though a little tired later that afternoon. I did find that I had two bruise marks from the needles I think - one on my chin and one on my neck - but they weren't too noticeable and they have gone now. I would definitely like to have the full 12 sessions!" SV, Balham
